Pazap's Victory Celebration Indicates the end of Punakha Domchoe

Punakha Domchoe is a festival held in Bhutan to commemorate the 17th century event of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the abbot of Ralung in Tibet, who carried holy relics to Bhutan. By tossing the artifacts into the Mo chhu river, he allegedly outsmarted the army, forcing them to withdraw in order to pursue Rangjung Kharsapani. The festival showcases Bhutan's rich cultural heritage and is witnessed by thousands of people at Punakha Dzong.

The guardian deities Mahakala and Palden Lhamo of the country are also worshipped at the Punakha Domche. The defeat of the Tibetan invasion by Zhambdrung Ngawang Namgyel is also honored.
